Come & spend the day of sewing, learning, and making something properly comfortable to wear. Make a wearable garment in a single focused session using the Pocket Skirt pattern from Peppermint Magazine x Paper Theory.
This workshop is for people who already have basic sewing machine confidence and are ready to move into garment construction. It is not suitable for absolute beginners.
The Pocket Skirt is a relaxed midi design with an elasticated waistband and oversized integrated pockets. It’s designed to be quick to construct, forgiving in fit, and ideal for building confidence in garment sewing without getting stuck in complex fitting or tailoring.
Ideally we’ll be working with reclaimed and repurposed fabrics, exploring how discarded textiles can be turned into something practical and wearable.
Cut and construct the Pocket Skirt from start to finish
Develop core garment construction skills
Work with your own chosen fabric
Complete a wearable skirt within the session
Peppermint x Paper Theory Pocket Skirt pattern
All sewing equipment and studio tools
Step-by-step tuition and support throughout
Tea, coffee, and a focused studio session
Participants must bring their own fabric.
We strongly encourage reclaimed or repurposed textiles such as charity shop finds, duvet covers, curtains, bedsheets, or fabric remnants. These are often ideal for this pattern and align with the workshop’s focus on reuse and reducing textile waste.
Suitable fabrics are woven materials such as cotton, linen, cotton blends, or similar stable fabrics.
Please avoid stretch fabrics, very slippery fabrics, or very thick upholstery-weight materials, as these are not suitable for this pattern.
Full fabric guidance will be provided after booking to help you choose confidently.
This workshop is suitable for people who can confidently operate a sewing machine, sew straight seams, and follow basic instructions without step-by-step machine guidance.
Not suitable for absolute beginners.
This workshop is part of Macclesfield Textile Week 2026 (19–27 September), a town-wide celebration of textiles, creativity, repair, sustainability, and making.
